WaterBoss 950 Softener - 22,000 Grain Capacity w/Chlorine Removal
If you live in the city, the WaterBoss Model 950 Water Softener is the one for you. The 950 Water Softeners can soften up to 35 grains per gallon and at the same time reduce chlorine taste and odours.
The WaterBoss Model 950 not only serves as a softener and a dirt and sediment filter but it also functions as a chlorine filter. Packed into the middle compartment of the WaterBoss unit is a mixed media bed of fine mesh ion exchange resin and high-grade activated carbon.
The Model 950 becomes a chlorine filter through the process of absorption. Activated carbon is a media for improving taste and odours of almost all kinds. Activated carbon is a form of carbon that has been processed to make it extremely porous. Due to its high degree of micro-porosity, just one gram of activated carbon has a surface area in excess of about two tennis courts.
In addition to the positive characteristics as a chlorine filter, activated carbon provides a prime habitat for microorganisms to grow. Because of its absorption, non-pathogenic microorganisms can be a nuisance and actually create bad taste and odour. Therefore, it is important to change activated carbon filters on a regular basis, or backwash an activated carbon media bed accordingly.
In WaterBoss however, a Redox Media accompanies the activated carbon. It assists in removing chlorine, extends the life of the activated carbon and protects against bacterial growth.
This is where the WaterBoss' role as a chlorine filter separates itself from the conventional technology - the WaterBoss has a self cleaning feature. With the WaterBoss Model 950, there is no need to purchase and change filters.
